You've had such a multifaceted career in fashion. How has your personal style evolved, and what are the key elements that define it today?
My creative streak, which is obviously manifested in my style of dressing, from toddler to adult, over six decades, definitely was heavily influenced by the different cultural influences l had as a teenager and adult.
My upbringing was not traditionally Italian as my parents worked in the creative field and we switched continents more than once.
The Australian climate, the easiness of that climate, to my years living in Italy, learning about the quality of a shoe, or a jacket, the effortlessness of Euro dressing, l experienced a multiple platform of street wear and it heavily influenced my aesthetic eye.
But to be fair l have always had a passion for art.
And in some ways l allowed the Art to manifest onto myself.
My family home was always curated.
My mother changed our home interiors the same way she changed her clothing.
So my surroundings were an amazing education in quality and craftsmanship and design.
It lead to a degree in Textile Design at RMIT, to designing RTW in Milano, Melbourne, Toronto, to Interior Design to fashion Luxury retail.
All of the above including my current digital Brand have all evolved with one common denominator, style is fashion and not vice versa.
My style key, is in my personal reflection, how l see myself, l never allowed or allow myself to be controlled by trends.
Your personal style is your best aesthetic.
Don’t follow trends create them.

And in some ways l allowed the Art to manifest onto myself.” — Lisa Corbo

You believe there's no expiration date on true style. What are your tips for women looking to refine their wardrobe at any stage of life?
My definition of a closet/wardrobe is that it is basically “ a book”, like an open book. Truthfully a book does not have an expiration date. Right? It can be reinterpreted forever. For instance you might enjoy the first chapter today, but not tomorrow. It’s of the moment. So your clothing, your accessories, your haircut, that “look” is the best, the day of, in your moment. My tip – enjoy the moment.

You’ve successfully navigated multiple career transitions-from retail and design to curation and digital content creation.
What has been the most pivotal moment in your journey?
I have definitely navigated multiple platforms in the world of fashion. Honestly, the world of fashion has been challenging, educational, and inspirational but always rewarding for me.
But my most treasured moment, the pivot, to say, was when an unknown follower on my digital platform, a sweet Generation Y, sent a DM.
I had inspired her…. to believe that she could always be uniquely fabulous and stylish and not be afraid of losing her identity as she graciously aged, not being defined by anyone else’s rules.
Age should not define our fashion choices.
My journey is to inspire and remind us all that we do not need to be boxed in.
Life is no dress rehearsal.

Reinventing oneself mid-career can be daunting. What advice would you give to women looking to pivot into a new creative field later in life?
I would need a podcast to answer this thoroughly. Lol.
In a nutshell the number 1 rule for me, and especially if you are thinking of switching careers, regardless of your age, is to have a plan.
A career is basically “ a yellow brick road.”
The road will be the ‘adventure”.
So my advice is to go full speed ahead, look forward, never back. In your mind have a destination.
I have one.
Regardless of the outcome, l will enjoy the ride.
Don’t ever be afraid of the ride.

What are some challenges you faced when transitioning from traditional retail and styling to the digital space, and how did you overcome them?
The biggest risk originally was monitory. l had always been able to make projections in business, and l had let a solid financial base go, so yes, when I gave up a very successful business, and took a risk, and dove into the digital platform, professionally, I didn’t know what to expect?
It has been therefore very challenging to predict my financial yearly income this year, 2025, but I do love a challenge. My other important challenge was that l knew that to be successful, l needed to create my own community, a Lisa Corbo team. I now have the team. They really understand my vision, and together we work the Lisa Corbo Brand platform, long term together. I am so excited for this year.

With your background in retail and curation, how do you think consumer shopping habits have changed, and what does the future of retail look like?
We are more mindful this decade as consumers and as shoppers. My shopping currently is defined by the experience. I believe we look for and crave uniqueness when shopping; we source the treasures with a certain quality in design that has longevity, regardless of the price. I see this shift also with my young adult children and with my clients, not just within myself. We are now collectors of style. Goodbye to the throw-away society. Let’s be respectful and appreciative and support the total craftsmanship of fashion.
As a designer and curator, what are the key elements you look for when selecting timeless, high-quality pieces?
I need to love love love the piece. I need to know that I can retire the item when l am no longer obsessed and bring it out in the future, one day, and l love it with the same original sentiment.

You've built a loyal audience through storytelling and curation. What's your process for choosing what to share?
With my platform my number one rule is to be Switzerland. Educate, inspire, and don’t take yourself too seriously.
Lisa Corbo is always authentic with her audience.
I love to share my passion for fashion, my disregard for rules, and my style moments, but I will not share my personal family moments, at least for now.
I make sure the content can be understood and interpreted.
I do not want anyone to feel monitory or cultural differences exclude them.
Sharing my past and future, as well as my style of storytelling, is what l am on this platform.

Who are some of your favorite designers and brands?
Designers…..honestly as an artist l respect and love all designers. I look for integrity and originality always.
Brand wise I have always loved ….. Prada, Miumiu, Numero 21, Gianfranco Ferre, Ysl, Vionnet. Some from pre 1990s
