Deborah Afshani

Celebrity Stylist

Deborah Afshani has been an influential and in-demand stylist for nearly two decades. Based in LA and working bi-coastally, her approach to getting dressed is authentic and intuitive – guided by instinct rather than the latest trends.

With experience working in the editorial and advertising worlds collaborating with top notch photographers such as Annie Leibovitz and Norman Jean Roy for publications and clients such as Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Bulgari, Rolex and Wolford, Deborah is interested in exploring the more personal side of clothing and fashion. Although she still loves doing research and selecting looks in preparation for an editorial, she finds herself reflecting more and more on the role clothes play on a psycho-emotional level – how what one wears is an expression of one’s identity and the persona they want to share with the world. One’s personal wardrobe is a chosen language which is not always obvious and clear.

Deborah enjoys connecting with the people she works with in order to better understand who they are and what they want to exude, so that she can help communicate it through clothes. This is the approach she uses when she styles talents like Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway, Cindy Crawford as well as the one she uses with personal clients. At the end of the day, Deborah strongly believes that what one wears is deeply intertwined with one’s identity and loves nothing more than helping unite them for her clients.

Common Questions

Deborah Afshani

” I don’t really like to adhere to any kind of rules. I think style is internal between you and yourself: who you are and how you liked to dress last year or last week might be different to what feels right for today. Trust yourself. “
